Indian Railways is taking major steps to manage passenger demand during the upcoming festival season covering Durga Puja, Diwali, and Chhath. Western Railway Ratlam Division Public Relations Officer Mukesh Kumar announced several new services and service extensions to help travellers reach their destinations smoothly. Indian Railways plans to operate over 100 special trains between October and December 2026 to alleviate holiday crowding, supplemented by the addition of extra coaches to regular trains. Additionally, the service duration for four other weekly special trains connecting Telangana, West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, and Karnataka has been extended, adding 66 additional trips through December 2026.
The weekly special train between Lakshmibainagar (Indore) and Sri Ganganagar,
Train No. 04736, has been extended.
The service will operate every Friday from October 16, 2026, to November 27, 2026. Its return counterpart,
Train No. 04735, will run from Sri Ganganagar to Lakshmibainagar every Thursday from
October 15, 2026, to November 26, 2026. This extension will greatly benefit passengers travelling between Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan during the peak festive rush.
A brand new weekly special train will connect Dr. Ambedkar Nagar (Mhow) and Rewa via Jabalpur, running for a total of
six trips.
The service begins from Rewa on October 10 and from Dr. Ambedkar Nagar on October 11, 2026, operating on Saturdays from Rewa and Sundays from Dr. Ambedkar Nagar. The train's detailed route through the Ratlam division includes
departures from Indore at 21:45, Dewas at 22:30, Maksi at 23:30, Shujalpur at 00:25, and Sehore at 01:12, reaching Rewa at 14:30 the following day. The coach composition is designed to accommodate different classes of travellers, including
four general coaches, one SLR coach, six sleeper coaches, three Third AC coaches, three AC economy coaches, and two Second AC coaches. While the booking link is already live on the IRCTC portal, reservations have not yet commenced, so passengers should keep an eye out for ticket opening updates.
