Indian Railways approves 209 crore rupees for signalling upgrades in Solapur Division

The Ministry of Railways has officially announced the approval of ₹209 crore to implement advanced Electronic Interlocking systems across seven key stations within the Solapur Division of Central Railway. This modernization initiative aims to significantly boost passenger safety, reduce train delays, and streamline day-to-day operations across busy routes.

The comprehensive project forms a vital part of a broader infrastructure investment totaling ₹736 crore spanning four states. By upgrading legacy equipment, Indian Railways continues its aggressive push toward modernizing network infrastructure to meet rising passenger demands.

Stations Benefiting from the Upgrade

The stations specifically designated for these crucial signalling upgrades include Mohol, Mundhewadi, Bale, Solapur, Hotgi Junction-Hotgi A Cabin, Shahabad, and Wadi Junction. These locations will transition from older infrastructure to state-of-the-art digital technology.

Laying the Groundwork for Kavach and High Density Networks

The modernization of this signalling infrastructure is directly intended to facilitate the seamless deployment of the indigenous Kavach Automatic Train Protection system. Furthermore, the project supports the rollout of Automatic Block Signalling and Centralised Traffic Control along the critical High Density Network 7 route.

The transition to Electronic Interlocking successfully replaces traditional relay-based systems with modern computer-based technology. Passengers and railway operators can expect enhanced system reliability, improved fault detection capabilities, simplified maintenance protocols, and a notable increase in the overall efficiency of train operations across the division.
