Indian Railways Extends Daily Special Trains Between Supaul and New Delhi
Indian Railways has officially announced the extension of daily special train services connecting Supaul and New Delhi to accommodate the steady surge in passenger traffic and improve travel convenience for commuters.
- Train No. 04072 from New Delhi to Supaul will operate daily until September 30, 2026.
- Train No. 04071 from Supaul to New Delhi will run daily until October 2, 2026.
- Festival special services are scheduled from October 1 to November 30, 2026, to manage holiday rushes during Dussehra, Diwali, and Chhath Puja.
- Bookings for these extended services officially opened on September 6, 2026.
Route and Coach Details
According to East Central Railway Chief Public Relations Officer Saraswati Chandra, these continuous services are specifically designed to ease severe passenger congestion and provide seamless connectivity for the Mithilanchal region directly to the national capital. To ensure adequate passenger capacity, both trains are operated with a total composition of 16 coaches, which includes three AC 3-tier coaches, eight sleeper coaches, four general coaches, and two SLR coaches.
During their journey, these special trains pass through several major and economically vital stations. The extensive route covers Saharsa, Khagaria, Chhapra, Barauni, Hajipur, Ballia, Ghazipur City, Varanasi, Prayagraj, Ghaziabad, Aligarh, Tundla, and Etawah, making it a crucial lifeline for travellers moving between Bihar and Uttar Pradesh towards Delhi.
Festival Season Arrangements
To further support heavy travel demands during the upcoming festive period spanning Dussehra, Diwali, and Chhath Puja, the Northern Railway has sanctioned dedicated festival special operations. Under this special schedule, Train No. 04072 will continue running as a festival special from October 1 to November 28, 2026. Meanwhile, the return service Train No. 04071 will operate from October 3 to November 30, 2026. Passengers planning to travel during this peak festive season are advised to book their tickets early through the IRCTC portal or authorized reservation counters to secure confirmed accommodation.
