Indian Railways Adds Extra Coaches for November Festive Rush
Indian Railways increases capacity with extra coaches and special trains for Diwali and Chhath Puja to manage the November 2026 festive rush.

To accommodate the massive surge in passenger traffic during the 2026 festive season, including Diwali and Chhath Puja, Indian Railways has implemented comprehensive operational adjustments. To ensure travelers can reach their destinations comfortably, the North Western Railway (NWR) has announced the temporary addition of extra coaches to several key train services.
NWR Increases Capacity on Key Routes
The North Western Railway is proactively augmenting train compositions to meet the heightened demand. Key changes include:
- Ajmer–Amritsar–Ajmer Express (19611/19614 and 19613/19612): This service will receive one additional sleeper coach from Ajmer between November 1 and November 30, and from Amritsar between November 2 and December 1.
- Hisar–Jaipur (14715/14716): This train is set to receive four additional general-class coaches, effective from Hisar from November 1 to November 30 and from Jaipur from November 4 to December 3.
- Other Augmented Services: Additional coaches are also being integrated into the Jaipur–Jodhpur (22977/22978), Jaipur–Udaipur City (20993/20994), Ajmer–Agra Fort (22987/22988), and Jaipur–Bathinda (14734/14733, 54704/54703) routes.
Massive Boost for Rewari Division
The impact of these changes will be felt significantly in the Rewari region. A total of 13 pairs of trains passing through Rewari will benefit from the addition of 49 coaches. These extra carriages will encompass AC, sleeper, and general categories, providing much-needed relief throughout the month of November.
Amit Sudarshan, Chief Public Relations Officer (CPRO) of North Western Railway, stated that these temporary augmentations are determined by passenger demand to ensure relief for travelers on critical routes.
Nationwide Special Trains and Unreserved Services
Beyond the North Western Railway, Indian Railways is operating thousands of special train trips across the nation throughout October and November. To facilitate travel to major destinations in Bihar and Uttar Pradesh, specific unreserved special services have been scheduled for routes such as:
- Sealdah–Jaynagar
- Kolkata–Gorakhpur
