Additionally, Central Railway has significantly bolstered its operations by adding 162 additional services, bringing its total festive services to 580.
A major highlight of this festive season is the potential introduction of a Vande Bharat Special train. The Railway Board is currently reviewing a proposal for a service connecting New Delhi and Patna, which could potentially commence operations as early as October 16, 2026.
Other major routes being prioritized with special services include:
- Varanasi to Delhi
- Ayodhya Cantt to Anand Vihar

Increased Coach Capacity and Booking Tips
To maximize seating availability, Indian Railways has added 412 extra coaches to existing services. This includes 75 General Class coaches to assist passengers traveling without reserved berths.
For passengers planning their festive travel, officials have noted that booking for these special services typically opens four to six weeks in advance. This provides a vital alternative for travelers who may have missed the standard 120-day booking window for regular train services.
