Indian Railways has demonstrated significant momentum in its freight operations, recording a 6.14% growth in loading during September 2026. This upward trend highlights the sustained demand for rail transportation across various critical sectors of the national economy.
Strong Tonnage and Revenue Growth
In September 2026, the railways successfully loaded 135.35 million tonnes of freight, a notable increase from the 127.52 million tonnes recorded during the same month in 2025. This growth is also reflected in the financial performance of the freight segment.
