Which new infrastructure projects were approved?
On July 3, 2026, the Ministry approved two major projects to improve speed and safety. A ₹135 crore rail flyover will be built between Bondamunda ‘A’ and ‘B’ cabins to reduce congestion. Additionally, ₹274 crore was approved for the Malda Division to replace old signalling with Electronic Interlocking at 20 locations, which will help in integrating Kavach technology.
How are train services expanding?
The number of Vande Bharat services has now reached 164, including a new sleeper train between Howrah and Kamakhya. Amrit Bharat services have also grown to 72 trains, with four new ones started in June. To support power plants, the railways supplied 7% more domestic coal this June compared to last year.
