The upgraded Passenger Reservation System developed by the Centre for Railway Information Systems is designed to address technical bottlenecks and make train travel planning seamless. By August 2026, the system aims to increase ticket booking capacity fivefold, moving from 32,000 to 1.5 lakh tickets per minute. Enquiry capacity is also being scaled tenfold, from 4 lakh to over 40 lakh inquiries per minute. These enhancements are expected to eliminate server crashes and hanging issues, particularly during high-demand Tatkal bookings.

Passengers can also take advantage of financial savings as the
R-wallet bonus of 3% on the RailOne app has been officially extended until
August 24, 2028. In response to passenger feedback, reservation charts for trains are now typically prepared eight hours prior to departure, while a new pilot project is actively testing a 24-hour advance release window.
