Indian Railways announces train cancellations and diversions for Jhansi station upgrade
North Central Railway has announced essential operational changes at Veerangana Lakshmibai Jhansi Station due to the construction of a ballastless track on Platform No. 1. These infrastructure enhancement works will span a 40-day period and are scheduled to impact regular rail services from November 20 to December 29, 2026. Passengers planning upcoming journeys through this major rail hub must note these changes to avoid last-minute travel hassles.
According to Chief Public Relations Officer Dr. Shivam Sharma and Public Relations Officer Sanjay Kumar Gautam, key updates for travellers include complete train cancellations, route diversions, short-terminations, and partial service modifications across multiple routes.
Completely Canceled Trains
Four specific train services will remain completely suspended during the construction window:
Train 05073 KSR Bengaluru-Lalkuan from November 24 to December 29.
Train 05074 Lalkuan-KSR Bengaluru from November 21 to December 26.
Train 07075 Hyderabad-Gorakhpur from November 20 to December 25.
Train 07076 Gorakhpur-Hyderabad from November 22 to December 27.
Diverted and Modified Train Services
In addition to the cancellations, 17 trains passing through Kanpur Central will be diverted. Notable reroutings include the 12174 Udyog Nagari Superfast and the 12108 Sitapur-LTT Superfast, both of which will run via Hamirpur Road-Ohan-Jabalpur to Itarsi.
Furthermore, the Khajuraho-Udaipur Express will operate only up to Datia from November 21 to December 30, with the return service originating from Datia between November 19 and December 28. The popular Taj Express service operating between Veerangana Lakshmibai Jhansi and New Delhi will also see modifications, with trains short-originating and short-terminating at Gwalior from November 20 through December 29.
These infrastructure upgrades follow a series of recent railway maintenance projects across the region, including yard remodeling at Agasod station from September 26 to October 15, 2026, and earlier construction on Platform No. 3 between November 2025 and January 2026. Passengers are strongly advised to check their train schedules via the IRCTC portal or National Train Enquiry System before heading to the station.
