The government approved ₹671.72 crore for the North-South Corridor of the Kolkata Metro. This includes building seven new Traction Substations for ₹291.06 crore and upgrading the power system from 11 KV to 33 KV between Netaji Metro Station and Kavi Subhash Metro Station for ₹380.66 crore. These changes will allow trains to run every 2.5 minutes instead of the current 5-minute gap, which will reduce crowding and increase capacity.

What is the plan for the Adra Division bridge?

A budget of ₹223.58 crore is sanctioned for the construction of Bridge No. 520 UP and 520 DN in the Madhukunda–Damodar section. The existing bridge was built in 1903 and 1965 and has developed structural distress. The project includes yard remodelling and track work to ensure a safer and stronger route for freight trains and industrial connectivity under the South Eastern Railway.
