Indian Railways has launched a dedicated air-conditioned tourist chair car service to boost connectivity to the scenic Dudhwa National Park. Operating under the North Eastern Railway’s Lucknow Division, this initiative connects Mailani and Bichhia, offering wildlife enthusiasts a comfortable and affordable way to traverse one of India’s most pristine forest regions. The service is specifically designed to promote eco-tourism by making the lush landscapes of the Terai region accessible to travellers.

For travellers planning a weekend safari, Train Number 52260 departs from Mailani Junction at 6:05 AM and arrives at Bichhia at 10:30 AM. The return journey, Train Number 52259, departs Bichhia at 11:45 AM and reaches Mailani at 4:10 PM. The train traverses a picturesque 108-kilometer meter-gauge route with strategic halts at Bhirakheri, Palia Kalan, Dudhwa, Belrayan, Tikunia, Khairtiya Dam Road (Halt), and Manjhra Purba, ensuring easy access to various gateways of the wildlife sanctuary.

While the train ride offers a scenic journey, passengers should note that entry into the Tiger Reserve is subject to strict regulations. Visitors must obtain the necessary permits to enter the park. Furthermore, for the protection of wildlife and the safety of all guests, carrying firearms, bringing pets, and trekking within the core forest areas are strictly prohibited.
