The Railway Board issued an official order on July 3, 2026, signed by Sanjay Manocha, Director Passenger Marketing. Previously, certain parts of the LSLRD (Link Halfman Bush Second Class cum Luggage, Guard & Brake Van) coaches remained vacant due to software issues. Now, these areas will be available for booking under the ‘2H’ category. Each LSLRD coach will provide 31 to 32 seats at a very low fare.

Which trains will have this facility and when will it start

This facility will be available in fully reserved trains like the Duronto Express, including the Prayagraj-Mumbai Duronto. The Centre for Railway Information Systems (CRIS) is currently updating the software to enable these bookings. Passengers can expect this service to start within the next three months, just in time for the festive season.

Provisions for Divyangjan and technical changes

The railway has ensured that the dedicated section for Divyangjan (persons with disabilities) will remain unchanged. They will continue to get special sleeper seats at regular sleeper class fares to ensure they get confirmed lower berths. The current software update is specifically designed to fix the technical gap that previously stopped general passengers from booking these seats.
