Indian Railways and the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation have announced that ticket bookings for travel on November 1 will officially open on September 2 at 8:00 AM. Passengers planning to undertake journeys on this specific date should stay prepared right at the opening time to secure their reservations smoothly amid high demand. This booking window strictly follows the current Advance Reservation Period policy, which limits advance bookings to 60 days before the scheduled date of travel. This policy remains active as a part of broader systemic updates, including the ongoing upgrade of the Passenger Reservation System that began in August 2026 to enhance overall booking capacity and processing speed.

Mandatory Rules and Booking Procedures

Travellers must keep in mind several mandatory procedures implemented throughout recent months. For all online reservations, users are required to utilize Aadhaar-based authentication. This security requirement became mandatory for all general reserved ticket bookings during the first 15 minutes of the opening window starting October 1, 2025, and applies equally to Tatkal bookings as of July 1, 2025. Furthermore, Indian Railways continues to operate under previously revised guidelines, which include the useful 'Date Change' feature for confirmed tickets alongside a strict refund policy for cancellations made within eight hours of train departure.
