Indian Railways is set to launch a massive nationwide ticket verification drive to ensure travel compliance and protect revenue. The special campaign, themed 'One Ticket, One Original ID', is scheduled to run from October 1 to October 31, 2026.
This initiative comes as a proactive measure to curb the misuse of reservation facilities and safeguard railway revenue ahead of the busy festive season. Following directives issued by the Railway Board on September 25, 2026, all Zonal Railways have been instructed to implement stringent verification protocols.
Crucial Rule for Group Travelers
One of the most critical aspects of this campaign involves group travel. Under the new enforcement protocols, passengers traveling on reserved tickets must ensure that at least one person in their group possesses the required original identification card. If no one in the group can produce the original ID, the authorities will treat every passenger on that ticket as traveling without a valid ticket.
This rule applies to various categories, including:
- Passengers utilizing specific reservation quotas.
- Travelers claiming special concessions.
- Holders of E-Passes and Privilege Ticket Orders (PTOs).
