Indian Railways to Launch Online Porter and Wheelchair Booking
Indian Railways introduces online porter and wheelchair booking via My Saathi app to ensure a hassle-free journey for elderly and disabled passengers.

Indian Railways is set to revolutionize station assistance with the introduction of online porter and wheelchair booking services. Starting from November 16, 2026, passengers will no longer have to struggle to find help or negotiate prices upon reaching the station.
Introducing the 'My Saathi' Digital Platform
To ensure a seamless and transparent experience, the Ministry of Railways is rolling out the 'My Saathi' mobile application and a dedicated web portal. This digital initiative is specifically designed to assist elderly travelers, persons with disabilities, and those who are unwell, eliminating the need for manual searching for assistance.
The booking process is designed to be incredibly simple:
- Download the My Saathi app or visit the official website.
- Enter your PNR number and train details.
- Confirm your booking for a porter (known as Sahayaks) or a wheelchair.
- A verified professional will be assigned to meet you directly at your designated train coach.
Modernizing Station Assistance in Ajmer Division
The implementation of this service is being spearheaded by the Ajmer Railway Division. A three-year contract has already been finalized to establish the necessary digital infrastructure required to support this massive transition.
"This transition represents a significant modernization of traditional station assistance services," stated Mihir Dev, the Senior Divisional Commercial Manager for the Ajmer Division.
A Standardized Solution for All
While e-wheelchair services have been available at certain select stations in the past, the 'My Saathi' platform aims to provide a standardized, integrated solution across the entire railway network. This move ensures that assistance is not just available, but also verified, professional, and easy to access with just a few taps on a smartphone.
