Indian Railways is operating special train services and route extensions to help devotees travel smoothly during the upcoming Janmashtami festival. These special arrangements focus on easing congestion and providing comfortable transit for passengers traveling to Mathura.

The North Central Railway operates unreserved special trains between Virangana Lakshmibai Jhansi and Mathura to assist commuters from Gwalior, Dabra, Datia, Morena, and Dholpur.

  • Train number 01825 departs from Jhansi on September 3 at 7:20 PM and arrives in Mathura Junction at 12:25 AM.
  • Return service train number 01826 leaves Mathura on September 4 at 5:30 AM and reaches Jhansi at 11:15 AM.
  • Additional special train number 01827 departs from Jhansi on September 4 at 11:45 AM and reaches Mathura at 5:10 PM.

Train Schedule and Travel Details


For the northward journey on September 3, train number 01825 stops at Gwalior at 9:15 PM for a five-minute halt before proceeding toward Mathura. The return service on September 4 halts at Agra Cantt, Dholpur, Morena, Gwalior from 8:30 AM to 8:35 AM, Dabra, and Datia. Meanwhile, the second special service on September 4 halts in Gwalior between 1:25 PM and 1:30 PM.

Passengers must note that these special services consist solely of unreserved coaches, meaning travellers can board them simply by purchasing standard general tickets at the stations.

Route Extensions and Extra Halts


In addition to the newly introduced special services, Indian Railways has implemented further measures for the festive rush. The New Delhi-Agra Cantt Intercity train is extended to terminate at Gwalior. Moreover, the Amritsar-Nanded special train has been granted an additional scheduled halt in Gwalior to better accommodate festival-goers.
