Indian Railways Operates Special Trains For Janmashtami 2026

Indian Railways has announced the operation of a reserved superfast special express service to accommodate the expected passenger surge during the 2026 Krishna Janmashtami festival. The service will operate between New Delhi and Subedarganj in Prayagraj, with three trips scheduled in each direction between September 3 and September 6, 2026.
Train Number 02416 will depart from New Delhi at 11:00 PM on September 3, 4, and 5, arriving at Subedarganj at 9:45 AM the following day. The return service, Train Number 02415, will depart from Subedarganj at 12:10 PM on September 4, 5, and 6, reaching New Delhi at 11:30 PM on the same day.
Train Composition And Stoppages
Each train consist will feature 18 coaches, comprising one AC 2-tier coach, three AC 3-tier coaches, seven sleeper coaches, five general-class coaches, and two SLR coaches. The route will include scheduled stoppages at Ghaziabad, Aligarh Junction, Tundla Junction, Etawah Junction, Govindpuri, and Fatehpur.

The initiative, managed by Northern Railway and North Central Railway, aims to facilitate travel during the Janmashtami period, which is officially observed on September 4, 2026.
