Indian Railways has issued a major update regarding train cancellations scheduled for April 2026. These disruptions are primarily caused by high-tech track upgrades and maintenance projects aimed at improving passenger safety and travel speed. The changes will begin on April 2 and are expected to continue through the end of the month in several railway divisions including Lucknow and Bilaspur. Major reasons for train cancellations and schedule changes

The primary reason for these cancellations is the essential repair work on the Ganga bridge near Kanpur, which is scheduled to last for approximately 40 days. Additionally, the Nagpur and Bilaspur divisions of South East Central Railway will undertake platform development work at Gondia station. This project involves removing the old washable apron and installing a high-tech ballistic track on platform number 3. These technical upgrades will ensure better track grip, reduce train travel time, and provide a smoother journey by eliminating track jerks.
