Indian Railways Cancels Multiple Trains for Signaling Upgrades on Delhi Route

Indian Railways has announced significant disruptions to train operations across the Northern Railway network as part of a critical safety initiative. From October 5 to October 8, 2026, the railway administration will undertake essential automatic signaling upgrade works between Delhi Sarai Rohilla, Patel Nagar, and Palam stations. To facilitate this infrastructure improvement, the authorities have scheduled the cancellation, diversion, and rescheduling of several train services.

Key details of the service disruptions include:

  • Approximately 23 to 24 trains will remain cancelled during the four-day window.
  • Affected services include the Delhi-Jaisalmer Express (14087/14088) and the Delhi Sarai-Bandra Terminus Express (12215/12216).
  • The Jaipur-Delhi Sarai Rohilla AC Double Decker (12985/12986) is also among the services impacted.
  • Daily routes connecting Delhi, Rewari, Hisar, Ajmer, Bhuj, and Jodhpur will face operational changes.

Important Advice for Passengers

North Western Railway CPRO Amit Sudarshan has urged all passengers to verify the status of their trains before heading to the station to avoid last-minute inconvenience. These signaling upgrades are a vital step toward enhancing long-term operational safety and efficiency on this busy transit corridor. Travelers are encouraged to utilize the official Indian Railways digital platforms, such as the NTES app or the IRCTC website, to receive real-time updates on their journey status.

Ongoing Infrastructure Projects

These disruptions are taking place alongside other major infrastructure projects currently underway in the region. Notably, the 70-day redevelopment work at Delhi Cantt station is still in progress. Due to this ongoing project, stoppages for 13 Rajasthan-bound trains remain suspended through October 13, 2026. Given the overlapping nature of these works, passengers planning travel to or from the national capital during this period are advised to exercise caution and plan their itineraries well in advance to account for potential route changes or delays.
