Major Train Cancellations: Indian Railways Yard Remodeling Update
Indian Railways has announced a series of significant service adjustments, including widespread train cancellations and schedule changes. These disruptions are the result of essential yard remodeling and non-interlocking (NI) infrastructure projects being carried out across various railway divisions to enhance safety and efficiency.
Bhopal Division: Weekly Specials Cancelled at Agasod
In the Bhopal division, ongoing remodeling work at Agasod station is set to impact several weekly services. A total of 12 trips will be cancelled between September 30 and October 17, 2026.
- Kanpur Central-Madurai Special (01925/01926): Train 01925 will not run on September 30, October 7, and October 14. Its return service, 01926, is cancelled on October 3, 10, and 17.
- Prayagraj-Yesvantpur Special (04149/04150): Train 04149 is cancelled on September 30, October 7, and October 14, while the return leg 04150 will be cancelled on October 3, 10, and 17.
Major Disruptions in South Eastern Railway & Rajendra Bridge
The South Eastern Railway has also approved remodeling for the Jharsuguda passenger yard. This project will lead to the cancellation of approximately 45 pairs of trains on the Howrah-Mumbai and Hatia-Sambalpur routes from November 27 to December 17, 2026.
Furthermore, non-interlocking work at the Rajendra Railway Bridge—intended to connect a new parallel rail bridge—is causing massive shifts in traffic. Between September 21 and October 4, 2026, over 36 trains will be cancelled, and roughly 384 services will be diverted.
Festive Boost: New Delhi-Howrah Puja Special Frequency Increased
On a more positive note, Indian Railways is scaling up services for the festive season. To meet the high passenger demand, the frequency of the New Delhi-Howrah Puja Special (04052/04051) has been increased from once a week to three days a week.
- Train 04052: Departing New Delhi every Tuesday, Friday, and Sunday from October 6 to November 29, 2026, completing 24 trips.
- Train 04051: Departing Howrah every Tuesday, Thursday, and Sunday from October 8 to December 1, 2026, also completing 24 trips.
Note: While the frequency has increased, the station halts for these trains remain unchanged.
Winter Fog Alert: North Central Railway Preparations
Looking ahead to the winter season, North Central Railway has issued a proactive update. Chief Public Relations Officer Dr. Shivam Sharma stated that several major trains may face cancellations, frequency reductions, or partial terminations between December 2026 and February 2027. These measures are being planned to ensure safe operations during the expected periods of heavy winter fog.
Passengers are strongly advised to verify the current status of their trains via the National Train Enquiry System (NTES) or other official railway channels before heading to the station.
