Indian Railways has rolled out a major technological upgrade to its centralized grievance redressal portal, Rail Madad, designed to ensure faster assistance and real-time resolution for passengers travelling on moving trains. Initially launched about seven years ago, the updated grievance system now directly routes complaints to on-board staff for immediate action.
- Direct transmission of complaints to on-board escorting staff ensures immediate intervention.
- All railway zones must accurately update staff information and work shifts in digital platforms like RailCare and CMM.
- The revamped system helps strictly adhere to Service Level Agreement (SLA) standards by eliminating unnecessary delays.
Under the newly revised protocols, the Ministry of Railways has instructed all railway zones to ensure that staff information and work shifts are accurately updated within internal digital systems such as
RailCare and CMM. Previously, if escorting staff details were missing or outdated, complaints were unnecessarily routed to the Divisional Control Office, causing avoidable delays in response times. By completely digitizing staff assignments, the system will now instantly notify personnel stationed in the specific coach or train. This enables swift resolution of everyday service issues while ensuring strict adherence to established
Service Level Agreement (SLA) standards.
Rail Madad serves as the primary centralized grievance platform for Indian Railways. Passengers can seamlessly file complaints or share suggestions through its
official web portal, mobile application, or the integrated 139 helpline. Additionally, the application is easily accessible through the
UMANG app. Passengers simply need to provide their
PNR details for any train-related grievances and can conveniently attach supporting documentation in
.jpg, .jpeg, or .png formats. The platform continues to offer
real-time tracking of complaints, with automated notifications of resolutions sent directly to the passenger's registered mobile number or email address.
