India is gearing up for a major leap in rail infrastructure as Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw announced that trials for the countrys first indigenously developed bullet train will commence between May and June 2027. Following a successful testing phase, the high speed service is projected to open for public commercial operations by the end of 2027, just two to four months after trials conclude. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to preside over the formal inauguration of the service. To manage this expansion, b1notifications were issued on September 7, 2026, seeking talent for key deputation posts such as AGM Operations, GM Track, GM Civil, GM Rolling Stock, OSD, ED, and GM Design. Alongside these high-speed ambitions, nationwide railway modernisation is also underway, bighlighting the redevelopment program of 280 railway tdations and the laying of roughly 36,000 kilometers of new tracks nationwide.
