IRCTC Launches Special Navratri Fasting Meals on Trains

Traveling during the festive season just got much easier for passengers observing religious fasts. The Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) has introduced a specialized 'vrat ka khana' menu to cater to the needs of travelers during the Sharad Navratri 2026 festival.
The festival, running from October 11 to October 20, 2026, features these dedicated Sattvic meal options across several premium train services, including the Rajdhani Express.
Sattvic Menu for Devout Travelers
To ensure compliance with fasting traditions, the specialized menu is prepared strictly without onion, garlic, or any non-vegetarian ingredients. All dishes utilize Sendha Namak (rock salt) to maintain purity.
The diverse range of fasting-friendly items includes:
- Falahari thalis
- Sabudana khichdi and Sabudana vada
- Samak rice and Kuttu ki poori
- Aloo jeera and Makhana
- Sabudana kheer
- Paneer-based dishes and fresh fruits
How to Order Navratri Special Meals
Passengers can easily access these meals through the following methods:
- IRCTC eCatering Website: Order directly through the official portal.
- 'Food on Track' Mobile App: Use the dedicated 'Navratri Special' link located on the home screen.
Note: Orders must be placed at least two hours before the train reaches the designated station.
To ensure seamless delivery, IRCTC has partnered with a network of food vendors and prominent restaurant partners such as Zomato and Swiggy. For added convenience, travelers can choose between pre-payment or cash-on-delivery options.
