Jaitipur-Ajgain Crossing Closed: New ROB Construction Underway

Commuters traveling on the Lucknow-Kanpur rail section should prepare for significant changes to their travel plans. The Jaitipur-Ajgain railway crossing closure is set to begin on October 31, 2026, and will remain in effect until December 31, 2026.

This temporary shutdown is essential to facilitate the launching of girders for the construction of a brand-new, two-lane Railway Overbridge (ROB), which aims to improve connectivity and safety in the region.

The decision to close the crossing was formally requested by Narendra Singh, the Project Manager for the Uttar Pradesh State Bridge Corporation. The primary objective is to ensure maximum safety during the critical process of girder launching. To prevent any accidents during this heavy engineering phase, all vehicular traffic will be prohibited from the crossing for two months.

The district administration granted the necessary permissions following detailed reports submitted by the Sub-Divisional Magistrate and the Circle Officer of Hasanganj.

Traffic Diversion Plan: Routes for Heavy and Light Vehicles

To minimize disruption, the district administration and the Public Works Department (PWD) have established specific diversion routes. Travelers are advised to follow these guidelines to avoid delays:

  • Heavy Vehicles: Must utilize an alternative route located approximately 1.530 kilometers from Ajgain Kotwali toward Kanpur.
  • Light Vehicles: Are directed to use a separate diversion route situated approximately 0.850 kilometers from Ajgain Kotwali toward Lucknow.

Travelers are encouraged to plan their journeys in advance and strictly adhere to the designated diversion routes to ensure smooth traffic flow and safety.
