Jammu Division Train Schedule: Major Changes in October 2026

Indian Railways has announced a significant revision to the Jammu Division train schedule, impacting several express and DMU services. These operational adjustments, which include new timings and route extensions, are set to roll out across several dates in mid-October 2026 to improve efficiency and cater to passenger demand.
Vande Bharat and Key Express Timings Revised
Starting October 20, 2026, several high-profile services will follow new timetables. The Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra-New Delhi Vande Bharat Express (Train No. 22478) will see its departure from Katra moved to 5:40 AM. Its updated route includes stops at Shaheed Captain Tushar Mahajan station at 6:08 AM, Jammu Tawi at 7:08 AM, and Shaheed Captain Sunil Kumar Chaudhary Kathua at 8:01 AM.
Other major timing adjustments include:
- Kalka-Katra Express (14503): Effective October 20, 2026, it will depart Jammu Tawi at 3:20 AM and Shaheed Captain Tushar Mahajan station at 4:12 AM, arriving in Katra at 4:47 AM.
- Katra-Kamakhya Express (15656): Effective October 21, 2026, departing Katra at 3:40 AM and Shaheed Captain Tushar Mahajan station at 4:06 AM.
- Katra-Ghazipur City Express (14612): Effective October 22, 2026, departing Katra at 3:40 AM.
- Sabarmati-Katra Express (19415): Effective October 25, 2026, departing Jammu Tawi at 4:15 AM.
Additionally, nine other trains began operating on revised schedules between October 17 and October 19, 2026.
Sabarmati Express Extended to Katra for Pilgrims
In a major boost for travelers, the Sabarmati BG-Jammu Tawi Express (Train No. 19223/19224) is being extended to Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra. This extension will be effective from Sabarmati on October 18, 2026, and from Katra on October 20, 2026.
Uchit Singhal, the Senior Divisional Commercial Manager for the Jammu Division, noted that these modifications aim to increase train speeds, upgrade infrastructure, and resolve operational constraints. The extension to Katra is specifically designed to assist pilgrims traveling from various cities in Rajasthan, as it eliminates the need to change trains at Jammu Tawi, making travel much easier for women, children, and elderly passengers.
Station Halts and Important Travel Advice
The railway updates also include a new two-minute halt at Samba (SMBX) station for the Jammu Tawi-Barmer Express (14662) and the Jammu Tawi-Pune Express (11078), a change that has been in effect since August 19, 2026.
"These modifications aim to improve operational efficiency, address public demand, upgrade infrastructure, increase train speeds, and resolve operational constraints."
Passengers are strongly advised to verify all updated timings before commencing their journeys. Official information can be accessed via the railway helpline number 139, the NTES app, or the official Indian Railways websites.
