MP Nishikant Dubey Opens Jasidih Bypass Line for Faster Travel

In a major boost to regional connectivity, Godda Member of Parliament Dr. Nishikant Dubey officially inaugurated the Jasidih Bypass Line on Friday, October 9, 2026. This significant infrastructure project, completed at an estimated cost of ₹293.67 crore, is designed to streamline rail operations across the Santhal Pargana and Deoghar regions.

Eliminating Loco Reversals and Saving Time

The primary operational breakthrough of this new bypass line is the elimination of the engine (loco) reversal process at Jasidih station. Previously, trains traveling from Dumka and Godda were forced to undergo time-consuming reversals, leading to significant delays in schedules.

By establishing direct connectivity between Deoghar and Kumrabad-Rohini, the bypass will provide immediate relief to commuters and logistics providers. Railway authorities have confirmed that the new route will save substantial travel time for:

  • At least five daily passenger trains.
  • Two major freight services.

A Milestone for Regional Infrastructure

The inauguration ceremony was attended by several high-ranking railway officials, including Eastern Railway General Manager Geetika Pandey and Asansol Divisional Railway Manager Sangrah Maurya. To mark the commencement of this new era in rail travel, a special train was flagged off from Deoghar station to Madhupur via the newly commissioned route.

General Manager Geetika Pandey, who had conducted a site inspection on October 8, noted that the project is a vital step toward the national goal of a "Developed India" by significantly boosting operational efficiency. Chief Public Relations Officer (CPRO) of Eastern Railway, Shibram Majhi, also lauded the project as a landmark achievement for the region's infrastructure.

Engineering Feats and Future Plans

The construction of the Jasidih Bypass Line involved complex geotechnical engineering to overcome local terrain challenges. The project scope included:

  • Extensive rock cutting to create a smooth path.
  • The erection of multiple Road Over Bridges (ROB)
