Jhalrapatan Station to Get New Reservation Facility!
Kota Rail Division approves reservation services at Jhalrapatan station. Discover new railway system updates and PNR changes.

Commuters at Jhalrapatan are set to receive a major boost in convenience. The Kota Rail Division has officially approved a proposal to bring train ticket reservation services back to the station. This development involves the relocation of a previously closed reservation center to the station premises, ensuring local passengers no longer have to travel long distances for booking services.
A Major Win for Local Passengers
The introduction of this facility is the result of persistent advocacy by Dushyant Singh, the Member of Parliament for Jhalawar-Baran. By championing this cause, Singh has helped secure essential infrastructure that caters directly to the needs of the local traveling community.
This move comes at a time when Indian Railways is undergoing a massive technological transformation. Since August 2026, the national carrier has been migrating to an upgraded passenger reservation system, replacing ticketing infrastructure that had been in use for nearly 40 years.
Next-Gen Technology and Massive Capacity
The new system is designed to handle much higher volumes and provide smarter information to travelers. Key upgrades include:
- Increased Capacity: The new system can process up to 1.5 lakh tickets per minute, a massive jump from the previous limit of 32,000.
- AI-Powered Accuracy: Advanced AI-based prediction technology has been implemented, improving the accuracy of waitlist confirmation estimates to 94%.
Important Changes to PNR Numbers
As the network undergoes this system-wide migration, passengers should be aware of a change in their PNR numbers. While PNRs previously began with the digits 2, 4, 6, or 8, the new system will issue numbers starting with 1, 3, 5, or 7. The integration of this new numbering system is expected to be completed across the entire network by the third week of December 2026.
New Insurance Mandate for Counter Tickets
In a significant legal development, the Supreme Court of India has issued a directive to ensure passenger equality. Effective October 27, 2026, insurance coverage must be extended to all tickets purchased at reservation counters. This ensures that passengers booking in person receive the exact same protection and benefits as those booking their tickets online.
Jhalrapatan's Growing Rail Importance
The approval of the reservation facility adds to a string of recent developments at Jhalrapatan station. The location has recently seen increased activity, including:
- Successful Vande Bharat Express speed trials conducted in June 2026.
- The initiation of new freight train services in February 2026.
