Jhansi Bina Third Railway Line Project Nears Completion With October Deadline

The construction of the third railway line on the Jhansi Bina rail section has entered its final phase, with officials targeting the completion of the remaining nine kilometer stretch by October 15, 2026. This critical section, located between Bina and Agasaund, marks the concluding stage of a project sanctioned in the 2016 17 fiscal year with an estimated cost exceeding 4000 crore rupees. Passengers and railway enthusiasts can expect major capacity enhancements on this heavily congested route once the work is fully wrapped up.

Jhansi Divisional Railway Manager Aniruddh Kumar announced that a mega block is proposed to begin on October 15 to integrate the new third line into the existing rail network. This period will also facilitate the essential re modeling of the Agasaund station yard. The ongoing work involves track construction, non interlocking, and various technical operations overseen by a team of departmental officials. To ensure strict adherence to the deadline, DRM Kumar conducted a formal inspection of the progress and quality of work on August 21, 2026.

Broader Infrastructure Impact and Future Operations

The broader Mathura Bina third line project involves the construction of 12 important, 26 major, and 311 minor bridges, directly benefiting 32 railway stations. Coordination for the project has involved senior officials from both the West Central Railway and North Central Railway zones. Chief Passenger Transportation Manager Vivek Kumar chaired a joint meeting in April 2026 to finalize integration plans, which included projections that the integration process could impact train operations for approximately 60 days, necessitating temporary route diversions. Additionally, Commissioner of Railway Safety Pranjiv Saxena inspected construction efforts under the Dholpur Bina third line project in February 2026.

Once completed, the third line is expected to significantly improve train operations, increase speed, and enhance overall punctuality along this high traffic corridor, offering a smoother travel experience for daily commuters and long distance passengers alike.
