Jhansi Railway Track Construction Will Disrupt Kanpur Train Operations for 40 Days

Train passengers traveling across the Jhansi and Kanpur routes need to plan their journeys carefully as upcoming infrastructure upgrades will impact rail traffic significantly. The North Central Railway has announced a major 40-day traffic block starting soon to facilitate crucial development work.

Construction work for a modern ballast-less track at Platform Number 1 of Virangana Lakshmibai Jhansi Junction is set to disrupt rail traffic on the Jhansi-Kanpur line from November 20 to December 29, 2026. Manoj Kumar Singh, Public Relations Officer for the North Central Railway Jhansi Division, confirmed that the 40-day project will result in train cancellations, route diversions, and regulated schedules. For a smooth journey, passengers must take note of the following key changes:

- Four trains are fully cancelled including special express services connecting Hyderabad, Gorakhpur, Bengaluru, and Lalkuan.
- Seventeen trains will have their routes altered with diversions through alternate tracks and bypass routes.
- Operational regulations and short delays will affect select intercity and terminus services during the project window.

Cancelled Trains List

A total of four trains will remain fully cancelled during the infrastructure upgrade period. Passengers holding advance reservations on these specific services should check for automatic refunds: the 07075 Hyderabad-Gorakhpur Express from November 20 to December 25, the 07076 Gorakhpur-Hyderabad Express from November 22 to December 27, and both the 05073 KSR Bengaluru-Lalkuan and 05074 Lalkuan-KSR Bengaluru services.

Diverted Train Routes

Seventeen trains will have their routes altered to bypass the construction zone safely. Notably, the 12174 Udyog Nagari Express and 12108 Sitapur-Lokmanya Tilak Express will be diverted from Kanpur Central via Hamirpur Road, Ohan, and Jabalpur toward Itarsi between November 24 and December 29, and November 22 and December 27, respectively. The 22538 Chhapra-Lokmanya Tilak Antyodaya Express and 11407 Pune-Lucknow Express will follow diverted paths between November 24 and December 22. The 11123-11124 Gwalior-Barauni Mail will bypass Jhansi station from November 19 to December 29, instead running via Bhind-Etawah to reach Kanpur. Furthermore, the Tulsi Superfast Express will be redirected via the Lalitpur-Khajuraho-Mahoba route, and the Gondwana Express will operate via Mathura, Bayana, Sogaria, and Ruthiyai toward Bina.

Scheduled Regulations and Delays

Operational regulations will also affect other services across the division. The 11109 Intercity Express will be delayed by 30 minutes from November 20 to December 29, while the 22196/02200 Bandra Terminus-Jhansi Express will be controlled for approximately 60 minutes between November 19 and December 26. Railway authorities have advised passengers to verify the updated status, timing, and routes of their trains before commencing travel to avoid inconvenience.
