130 km/h Speed Trial on Jharwasa-Singawal Track

The North Western Railway (NWR) Ajmer Division is set to achieve a significant milestone in its infrastructure expansion today. As part of the ongoing Ajmer-Chanderiya rail project, a high-speed trial is scheduled for the newly doubled Jharwasa-Singawal section.
Testing Infrastructure at 130 km/h
On October 4, 2026, at 6:00 PM, a train will undergo a high-speed run on the upgraded track. The goal is to push the limits and test the operational capabilities of the new infrastructure by traversing the route at 130 km/h. This trial is essential to ensure that the newly laid tracks and electrical works can safely support high-speed traffic.
Safety Advisory for Residents
Given the intense speed of the upcoming trial, railway authorities have issued a public safety advisory. Residents and personnel working near the railway lines are urged to:
- Stay clear of the tracks during the trial period.
- Avoid standing near level crossings.
- Follow all safety protocols to prevent any accidents.
Next Steps: CRS Inspection
The speed trial is a precursor to the formal commissioning of the section. Following this test, the Commissioner of Railway Safety (CRS), Western Circle, Mumbai, is scheduled to conduct a mandatory statutory inspection on October 8, 2026. This inspection is a critical requirement to certify the safety of the new infrastructure before it is opened for regular passenger and freight services.
Enhancing Connectivity and Capacity
The doubling of the Jharwasa-Singawal section is a key component of the larger Ajmer-Chanderiya project. This initiative is designed to:
- Increase overall rail capacity.
- Improve operational efficiency across the division.
- Enhance connectivity within the North Western Railway network.
The civil, track, and electrical works for this project have been carried out by contractors including Vishnu Prakash R Punglia Limited and SEPC Ltd, marking another step forward in the modernization of Indian Railways.
