Jigna Station Alert: 3 Trains to Skip Stoppage for 9 Days

Passengers traveling through the Mirzapur region should prepare for upcoming changes to their travel plans. The North Central Railway’s Prayagraj Division has announced that a Jigna station train stoppage will be suspended for several services to facilitate essential infrastructure upgrades.

Nine-Day Suspension Period

The temporary suspension of stops at Jigna Station is scheduled to take place from October 24 to November 1. This nine-day operational adjustment is required to allow for intensive yard remodeling work.

This work is a critical component of the ongoing third rail line construction project connecting Jigna and Gaipura stations. This project is being carried out on the high-traffic Prayagraj-Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyay Junction rail section, which is a vital corridor for the network.

Affected Trains List

According to Amit Singh, Public Relations Officer for the Prayagraj Division, the following three trains will not stop at Jigna Station during this period:

  • Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyay Junction-Subedarganj MEMU (Train 64595)
  • Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyay Junction-Subedarganj MEMU (Train 63237)
  • Chunar-Prayagraj Express (Train 13309)

Improving Connectivity and Reducing Congestion

While the temporary stoppage may cause minor inconveniences, it is part of a massive ₹2649.44 crore investment in railway infrastructure. The third rail line project spans approximately 149 kilometers and is designed to significantly alleviate congestion on the busy Howrah-New Delhi route.

The project has already achieved several milestones, including:

  • Completion of land acquisition across 31 different villages.
  • Coordination with five departments in Mirzapur, including revenue, irrigation, and civil aviation.
  • Successful safety inspections and speed trials conducted by Railway Safety Commissioner Pranjiv Saxena for the recently finished Birohi to Gaipura section.

These safety trials ensure that the track systems, signaling, telecommunications, and overhead electrical equipment meet the highest technical standards before full operations resume.
