Jodhpur Diwali Special Trains and New Facilities Announced
Jodhpur Division announces special trains, extra coaches, and enhanced security to manage the Diwali and Chhath Puja passenger rush.

To manage the massive festive surge, the Jodhpur Division of the North Western Railway has announced a comprehensive plan that includes the operation of Jodhpur Diwali special trains and upgraded station amenities. Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) Anurag Tripathi confirmed that the administration is maintaining round-the-clock monitoring of all station operations to ensure a seamless travel experience for commuters during the upcoming Diwali and Chhath Puja period.
Boosting Train Capacity for Festive Travelers
To tackle the heavy demand for travel, the division is running seven pairs of festival special trains. In addition to these dedicated services, the capacity of 16 regular train pairs has been significantly increased. A total of 39 temporary coaches, comprising AC, Sleeper, and General classes, will be attached to these existing trains to accommodate more passengers.
Passenger Facilities and Booking Updates
To assist travelers during the holiday rush, a temporary waiting room has been established at the station. Passengers should also take note of specific changes to ticket booking services: all Passenger Reservation System (PRS) counters within the division will operate exclusively during the morning shift on the day of Diwali.
While general ticket counters remain active, railway officials are strongly recommending the use of the UTS mobile application. Using the app will help passengers avoid long queues and minimize wait times at the station.
Enhanced Security and Crowd Management
With the expected increase in footfall, enhanced security and crowd control measures have been implemented. Additional ticket-checking staff will be deployed at entry and exit points, as well as near escalators, to manage the flow of people effectively.
Furthermore, railway authorities have mandated that platform areas must be kept clear of obstructions, with a specific focus on the ends of platforms 4 and 5. To ensure safety and order, there is also stringent monitoring of parcel bookings to prevent the transport of unauthorized items in general compartments.
Passengers are advised to verify the latest schedules and coach compositions via the official Indian Railways website or at station inquiry counters prior to their journey.
