The comprehensive project focuses on enhancing both strategic border security and regional tourism in the region.

Infrastructure Upgrade Details

The renovation plan involves significant infrastructure upgrades, including complete track renewal across 268 kilometers and the replacement of sleepers along a 23-kilometer section. The work has been divided into distinct phases: the 160-kilometer stretch from Raika Bagh to Marwar Bithdi will undergo full track renewal, a 23-kilometer section from the 160 km mark to 183 km will receive new sleepers, and the remaining 108 kilometers spanning from 183 km to 291 km will see complete track replacement.

Divisional Railway Manager Anurag Tripathi confirmed that the project is designed to strengthen the rail network extending to the border district of Jaisalmer, ensuring safer and more efficient train operations. Tenders have already been issued for the initial 160-kilometer phase between Raika Bagh and Marwar Bithdi, with subsequent phases to follow standard administrative procedures.

Boosting Tourism and Defense Capabilities

Beyond its importance as a transport artery for domestic and international tourists and devotees, the route serves a vital function in the strategic defense of the Jaisalmer region. By enhancing the operational capacity and reliability of the tracks, railway authorities aim to establish a robust foundation for handling increased future traffic requirements.
