Jodhpur Station Redevelopment: NWR Issues ₹469 Cr Tender

The North Western Railway (NWR) has taken a massive step toward transforming the Jodhpur Station redevelopment project. A new tender, valued at approximately ₹469.20 crore, has been initiated to tackle the remaining construction phases, aiming to turn the station into a world-class facility by 2029.
A Shift in Timeline and Massive Investment
While the project was originally envisioned to be completed by late 2026, various complexities and delays have pushed the expected completion date toward 2029. The total cost for this ambitious redevelopment is estimated to be around ₹500 crore. Previously, a tender worth ₹474.52 crore was allocated to a joint venture involving Vishal Infrastructure Limited, Bengaluru, and OJSC Euro Asian Construction Corporation Everscon.
Airport-Grade Amenities and Heritage Design
The redevelopment is not just about modernizing; it is about blending heritage with high-tech convenience. The station is being designed to reflect the unique architectural essence of Jodhpur while providing amenities that rival modern airports. Key features of the upgraded station will include:
- A massive multi-story structure with a 72-meter-wide concourse.
- Enhanced accessibility with 32 elevators and 16 escalators.
- Dedicated arrival and departure gates to streamline passenger flow.
- Multi-level parking facilities for commuters.
- Skywalks connecting various foot-over bridges.
- Premium executive waiting areas and diverse retail spaces.
State-of-the-Art Security and Green Standards
Safety and sustainability are at the heart of this project. The station will adhere to green building standards to ensure environmental friendliness. To ensure passenger security, an integrated surveillance system will be installed, featuring roughly 400 CCTV cameras. These will be monitored 24/7 from a dedicated, high-tech control center.
