10 Kalka-Shimla Trains Cancelled for Two Months

Travelers planning a trip to the scenic hills will face significant disruptions as the Northern Railway has announced the suspension of 10 trains on the UNESCO World Heritage Kalka-Shimla route. This Kalka-Shimla train cancellation will remain in effect for two months, spanning from October 1 to November 30, 2026.

Reason Behind the Suspension

The decision follows extensive damage to the railway tracks caused by heavy rainfall and landslides on August 30, 2026. According to Himanshu Shekhar Upadhyay, Chief Public Relations Officer of Northern Railway, the damage is concentrated near Bridge No. 57, located between the Koti and Gumman stations in the Solan district. The heavy rains led to severe soil erosion, leaving portions of the track unsupported and posing a safety risk.
