Kanchausi Crossing 5C Closure: 8-Day Maintenance Alert

Commuters and motorists traveling through the Kanchausi region should prepare for significant disruptions. Railway crossing number 5C, a vital link on the Delhi-Howrah rail route, is scheduled to close for eight days to facilitate essential maintenance work.
Maintenance on the Dedicated Freight Corridor
The closure is part of a critical maintenance project being carried out on the Dedicated Freight Corridor (DFC) rail line. Lalji Anand, the Deputy Chief Project Manager of DFC Tundla, has confirmed the schedule and issued an appeal to all motorists and commuters to utilize alternative routes during this period.
The scheduled maintenance will take place from October 22 to October 29, 2026. During these eight days, traffic at the crossing will be restricted daily between the hours of 6 AM and 6 PM.
Impact on Local Commuters and Travel Detours
The shutdown is expected to heavily impact local residents, traders, farmers, and daily commuters, particularly those traveling between Rasoolabad and Auraiya in the Kanpur Dehat district. Travelers should account for increased travel times and higher fuel consumption due to the necessary detours.
To manage the disruption, officials have advised travelers to use the following designated alternative routes:
- Via Parjani
- Via Bijhai
Commuters should be prepared for an additional detour of approximately five kilometers. Authorities urge all road users to plan their journeys accordingly to avoid delays caused by the maintenance work.
