New Kanpur-Anand Vihar Train & Major Schedule Changes Announced
Indian Railways is set to enhance connectivity with a Kanpur Anand Vihar new train service, while simultaneously managing significant schedule adjustments across the Mumbai-Kanpur route. While the new daily service promises better travel options, passengers must stay alert to upcoming diversions and rescheduled departures caused by essential infrastructure development.
New Daily Kanpur to Anand Vihar Service
The Railway Board has officially approved a new daily Mail service, numbered 14153/14154, to connect Kanpur Central and Anand Vihar Terminal. This new service will cover a distance of 428 km, providing a vital overnight link for commuters.
The service will include stops at the following stations:
- Phaphund
- Etawah
- Tundla
- Hathras
- Aligarh
- Khurja
- Dadri
- Ghaziabad
Operational Timings:
- Train 14153: Departs Kanpur at 8:40 PM and arrives at Anand Vihar at 4:50 AM.
- Train 14154: Departs Anand Vihar at 11:25 PM and arrives at Kanpur at 7:25 AM.
Note: The official start dates for this service are currently pending notification from the respective railway zones.
Major Schedule Disruptions Due to Infrastructure Work
A significant traffic and power block has been scheduled from October 9 to October 23, 2026. This block is necessary to facilitate the construction of a third line at Kasara station within the Central Railway's Mumbai Division. Dr. Shivam Sharma, Chief Public Relations Officer of North Central Railway, Prayagraj, confirmed that these works will impact several services passing through Kanpur.
Rescheduled Departures from Lokmanya Tilak Terminus (LTT)
Several trains will see their departure times changed during this period:
- Train 22538 (to Gorakhpur): Rescheduled to 4:30 AM on October 9; 2:45 AM on October 18; and 3:30 AM on October 21, 22, and 23.
- Train 12107 (to Sitapur): Rescheduled to 5:35 PM on October 14.
- Train 11079 (to Gorakhpur): Rescheduled to 5:35 PM on October 15.
- Train 22584 (to Chhapra): Rescheduled to 6:05 PM on October 15.
Route Diversions and Proposals
In addition to rescheduling, certain trains will follow alternative routes to bypass construction zones:
Confirmed Diversion: On October 14, Train 12598 from Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus to Gorakhpur will be diverted via the Kalyan-Karjat-Pune-Manmad route.
Proposed Diversion: A proposal has been submitted to divert the weekly Mumbai Bandra-Kanpur Central train (22444/22443) via Tundla. This change is due to elevated track construction in the Anwarganj-Mandhana section and is expected to actually shorten the route by 78.22 kilometers.
