Extra Sleeper Coach for Kanpur-Bengaluru Special Train

The North Central Railway (NCR) has announced a capacity boost for the Kanpur Bengaluru Special Train to help travelers manage the massive festive rush. By adding an extra sleeper coach, the railway aims to reduce long waiting lists and provide more confirmed berths for passengers traveling during the upcoming holidays.
Increased Capacity for Festive Travelers
To handle the high demand during Durga Puja, Diwali, and Chhath, the railway has decided to augment the composition of train number 04131 and its return service, 04132. This capacity expansion will be effective from October 11 through November 15, 2026.
The total number of coaches in the train has been increased from 23 to 24. The new coach composition includes:
- 10 Sleeper coaches
- 2 3rd AC coaches
- 1 2nd AC coach
- 9 General coaches
- 2 SLR/D coaches
Managing the Holiday Surge
The decision comes as part of a broader initiative by Indian Railways, which has launched over 100 special trains across the country to manage the heavy passenger traffic during the October-November 2026 festive period. The Kanpur-SMVT Bengaluru route has been prioritized for this expansion to ensure smoother journeys for commuters traveling between Kanpur Central and Sir M. Visvesvaraya Terminal.
Passengers are encouraged to verify their booking status and check the updated coach compositions through the National Rail Enquiry System or by dialing the official railway helpline at 139.
