Railway Update: Kanpur Bridge repair to affect Shatabdi and Vande Bharat routes for 42 days
Train movement between Kanpur and Lucknow will face disruptions for 42 days starting April 2, 2026, until May 13, 2026. This is due to essential engineering work on Bridge Number 110 at the Kanpur Central Railway Bridge. The maintenance work involves replacing sleepers and strengthening the track on the down line. Daily blocks of eight hours will be implemented from 9:30 AM to 5:30 PM under the supervision of the Northern Railway Lucknow division and North Central Railway Prayagraj division.

Nearly 50 to 56 trains are affected by this mega block. High-profile trains like the New Delhi-Lucknow Shatabdi Express and Anand Vihar-Ayodhya Cantt Vande Bharat Express will follow a diverted route via Moradabad instead of the usual Kanpur route. Around 14 to 18 MEMU and passenger trains are fully cancelled, which will mainly affect daily commuters who travel between Kanpur and Lucknow for work. Additionally, several trains will be short-terminated at Kanpur Central instead of reaching Lucknow.
