Passengers traveling through Kanpur Central face significant changes as Northern and North Central Railways have announced a mega traffic block. The 42-day repair work on the Ganga bridge started on April 2, 2026, and will continue until May 13, 2026. This maintenance activity impacts daily schedules and routes for several major trains including Vande Bharat and Shatabdi Express to ensure infrastructure safety.

Details of train diversions and cancellations
The daily block remains effective from 9:30 AM to 5:30 PM to facilitate the replacement of old sleepers with steel H-beams and iron sheets. Due to this engineering work, around 17 trains on the Kanpur-Lucknow route stand cancelled. Trains such as the Pune-Lucknow Express and Lokamanaya Tilak Terminus-Lucknow Superfast Express are terminating at Kanpur Central instead of their final destination.
