North Central Railway Launches Kanpur Kolkata Weekly Special Train for Festive Season

The North Central Railway is operating a new weekly special train service between Kanpur Central and Kolkata to manage passenger rush during the upcoming festive season. Train numbers 04157 and 04158 will run for a total of eight trips in each direction, catering to travellers heading home for Ganesh Utsav, Navratri, Dussehra, Diwali, and Chhath Puja. This step aims to reduce pressure on regular mail and express services while improving the availability of confirmed berths for passengers.
Train Schedule and Timings
The special train 04157 will depart from Kanpur Central every Tuesday at 08:00 AM starting from October 6, 2026, until November 24, 2026, reaching Kolkata at 04:05 AM the next day. On the return journey, train 04158 will leave Kolkata every Wednesday at 07:25 AM from October 7, 2026, to November 25, 2026, arriving back at Kanpur Central at 01:25 AM the following day.
Route and Halt Details
During its journey, this special service will halt at Fatehpur, Prayagraj Subedarganj, Mirzapur, Pt Deen Dayal Upadhyaya DDU, Sasaram, Gaya, Dhanbad, Asansol, and Bardhaman. Furthermore, the Eastern Railway zone has made minor adjustments to halt durations for this service as well as the Agra-Kolkata special train at select stations including Asansol, Durgapur, Bardhaman, Bandel, and Naihati to streamline operations and ensure smooth transit across the network.
