Rail Traffic Between Kanpur and Lucknow Faces Disruption on September 14 and 15
Railway passengers travelling between Kanpur and Lucknow must prepare for significant operational changes as essential maintenance and infrastructure upgrade work impacts train services on September 14 and 15, 2026. Several key trains are facing schedule adjustments and route diversions, while digital ticketing services will experience temporary outages due to data center maintenance. Passengers are advised to plan their journeys carefully to avoid any inconvenience.
Railway operations between Kanpur and Lucknow will face major disruptions on September 14 and 15, 2026.
Lucknow-bound trains during this period will terminate at Manak Nagar instead of their usual destinations.
Digital rail services including PRS and UTS will be unavailable for two hours from midnight to 2:00 AM on both nights.

Train Diversions and Schedule Changes
To facilitate engineering works, specific operational changes have been implemented by the railway administration. The 12173 LTT-Pratapgarh Express starting on September 13 has been rescheduled and diverted via the Kanpur-Prayagraj-Phaphamau route. During its journey, this train will observe a 10-minute stoppage at Alamnagar, Aishbagh, and Prayagraj Junction for crew changes, alongside a five-minute stoppage at Utretia and Badshahnagar. Furthermore, the 14307/14308 Prayagraj Sangam-Bareilly Express and the 14241 train will be diverted to run via the Utretia-Alamnagar section. Senior DCM Samarth Gupta has strongly advised travellers to utilize the NTES app or dial the 139 helpline to verify the live status of their trains before heading to the station.
Digital Ticketing Outage Details
In addition to physical train movement, digital rail services will be impacted by crucial maintenance work at the NKG Data Center aimed at improving overall network infrastructure. For a duration of two hours from midnight to 2:00 AM on both September 14 and 15, the Passenger Reservation System (PRS), Unreserved Ticketing System (UTS), and related services will remain completely unavailable. This technical shutdown will temporarily prevent the online booking or cancellation of reserved and unreserved tickets. Anand Vardhan, Deputy Chief Commercial Manager in Kolkata, has issued instructions to S&T staff across the South Eastern, Northeast Frontier, East Coast, East Central, and South East Central Railways to remain fully prepared and vigilant during this scheduled maintenance window.
