These "Trains on Demand" (TOD) and festival special trips are being introduced to provide relief to commuters traveling during Durga Puja, Diwali, and Chhath Puja.

Scheduled to operate from October 1 to November 30, 2026, these services will connect Uttar Pradesh to major destinations including Delhi, Bihar, Mumbai, Gujarat, West Bengal, and Karnataka. Among these, four pairs of special trains have been confirmed to pass through Kanpur Central to assist travelers.

One of the primary additions is the unreserved Shakurbasti-Mansi festival special. The details for these services are as follows:

  • Train 04406 (Shakurbasti to Mansi): This service will run on November 5, 6, 7, 10, 11, 12, 13, and 14, 2026.

Both of these unreserved services will route through Kanpur Central, providing a vital link for passengers during the peak holiday period.

Additional Festive Connections

In addition to the Shakurbasti-Mansi route, other significant special services will pass through the region to cater to long-distance travelers:

  • New Delhi–Kanpur Central Special (02456/02455): Designed to facilitate travel between the capital and Uttar Pradesh.
  • Kanpur Central–SMVT Bengaluru Weekly (04131/04132): A weekly service connecting the region to Karnataka.

Dr. Shivam Sharma, Chief Public Relations Officer of North Central Railway, Prayagraj, noted that these arrangements involve close coordination with other railway zones, such as the Northeast Frontier Railway, to ensure smooth operations across the network.

Important Information for Passengers

Travelers planning to use these special services should keep the following details in mind:

Fare and Surcharge

Please be aware that these special services are subject to a 'Train on Special Fare' (TOSF) surcharge, which ranges from 10% to 30% of the regular fare.
