Karakat MP Rajaram Singh urges East Central Railway for major infrastructure upgrades

Karakat Member of Parliament Rajaram Singh met with East Central Railway General Manager Dimpi Garg on Friday, September 11, 2026, at Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya Junction in Mughalsarai to submit a comprehensive memorandum demanding vital railway infrastructure expansion and passenger amenity improvements across his parliamentary constituency. The discussions focused heavily on bridging connectivity gaps, boosting local industrial growth, and easing daily commuter hardships through targeted station developments and new train stoppages.

Key Demands and Proposals:
- Construction of new rail lines including Aurangabad-Bihta, Dehri-Banjari to Chopan, and Dehri to Ballia via Nasriganj, Bikramganj, and Dumraon.
- Establishment of a modern rail factory in the Dehri region to generate employment and regional industrial growth.
- Stoppage of three major trains at Akodha railway station: 12878 New Delhi-Ranchi Garib Rath Express, 18636 Sasaram-Ranchi Express, and 14022 Anand Vihar-Purulia Express.
- Upgradation of passenger amenities at Dehri, Dalmiyanagar, Son Nagar, and Akodha stations alongside new rail overbridges and reservation counters.

New Rail Lines and Industrial Growth

MP Rajaram Singh strongly emphasized the urgent need for new railway routes to uplift the socio-economic, educational, and commercial landscape of the region. He proposed the creation of several crucial rail corridors such as the Aurangabad-Bihta line and the Dehri-Banjari to Chopan line. Furthermore, he pitched an alternative route connecting Dehri to Ballia via Nasriganj, Bikramganj, and Dumraon. To transform the local economy and provide sustainable employment to the youth, the MP formally advocated for setting up a modern rail factory in the Dehri region.

Train Stoppages and Station Upgrades

To improve daily commuting and long-distance travel for local residents, the memorandum highlighted the necessity of providing halts for prominent express trains at Akodha railway station. These include the 12878 New Delhi-Ranchi Garib Rath Express, the 18636 Sasaram-Ranchi Express, and the 14022 Anand Vihar-Purulia Express.

Significant infrastructure enhancements were also sought for multiple stations. For Dehri railway station, the MP requested a new south-west entrance, additional ticket counters, modern waiting halls, and a passenger dormitory. At Dalmiyanagar station, plans include new toilets, ticket counters, waiting rooms, lifts, and dedicated parking facilities. Meanwhile, Son Nagar station needs reliable drinking water facilities and escalators. Akodha station is slated for foot-overbridge escalators, lifts for elderly and disabled passengers, passenger sheds, better sanitation, and a new overbridge at Gate Number 15.

Road Safety and Ticketing Convenience

Addressing roadway congestion and passenger safety near tracks, the MP pressed for the construction of road overbridges at the railway crossing near Chichmi-Dudhaila village close to Anugrah Narayan Road station, and at the Fesar railway crossing on the Aurangabad-Pachrukhiya road. Additionally, to save local citizens from travelling long distances for bookings, he demanded a new railway reservation counter in the old city area of Daudnagar. MP Singh reiterated that these swift interventions are indispensable for the holistic growth of the constituency.
