Katihar Rail Division Divisional Railway Manager Kirinder Narh inspected Jalalgarh railway station on Wednesday August 26 2026 to review ongoing infrastructure projects. Located on the Katihar-Jogbani rail section this visit aimed to address prolonged construction bottlenecks that have inconvenienced local operations and passenger facilities.
- DRM Kirinder Narh inspected the under-construction fourth yard at Jalalgarh railway station.
- Officials and contractors faced reprimands due to unsatisfactory progress lasting approximately eight months.
- An inspection of the road near Shivaji Colony led to orders for immediate RCC construction.
- A new shed will replace the dilapidated structure at the railway yard rake point.
Action Against Construction Delays
During the visit, DRM Narh closely examined the progress of the under-construction fourth yard, which has faced significant delays. Expressing strong dissatisfaction with the pace of development, the DRM reprimanded the involved officials and contractors. He noted that the construction progress has been unsatisfactory for approximately eight months. To rectify this, he issued strict instructions to improve both the quality of the work and the speed of execution to ensure timely completion.
Infrastructure and Passenger Facility Improvements
In addition to the yard construction, the DRM inspected an under-construction road situated near Shivaji Colony, adjacent to the yard. Upon observing large potholes on the road, he expressed his anger and ordered the immediate construction of an RCC road to mitigate erosion risks during the monsoon season. Furthermore, rake member Amit Vishwas raised concerns regarding the dilapidated condition of the shed at the railway yard's rake point. In response, DRM Narh assured that a new shed would be constructed to replace the aging structure. These measures are expected to boost overall station infrastructure and operational efficiency along the Katihar-Jogbani route.
