Khandwa Railway Station is gearing up for a massive architectural and functional overhaul. The Railway Land Development Authority (RLDA) has spearheaded a comprehensive redevelopment project valued at approximately ₹346.5 crore, aiming to bring world-class amenities to the station.
A Three-Phase Modernization Strategy
To ensure a smooth transition and minimal disruption, the entire project will be executed in three distinct phases. This strategic approach allows for systematic upgrades to the station's infrastructure.
Phase 1: The Initial Push
The first phase of this ambitious project has been assigned a budget of ₹72 crore. This initial stage is expected to be completed within a timeframe of roughly two years. The official work order for this phase has already been issued, signaling the start of a new era for the station.
Next-Gen Amenities for Passengers
The redevelopment isn't just about aesthetics; it's about significantly enhancing the passenger experience. The station will see a surge in modern facilities, including:
- Massive Commercial Hub: A new three-story commercial building will be constructed to provide various services and retail options.
- Seamless Mobility: To ensure easy movement across platforms, the station will be equipped with 18 escalators and 21 lifts.
