Kharagpur Keyman Honored for Preventing Track Hazard

In a remarkable display of vigilance and dedication to duty, V. Ram Krishna, a Keyman within the Kharagpur Division, has been officially honored for his proactive role in ensuring railway safety. His quick thinking helped prevent a potentially dangerous situation on the tracks.
Preventing a Potential Rail Hazard
The incident took place on the morning of September 25. While conducting his routine patrol at approximately 6:20 AM, Ram Krishna—who is assigned to Gang Number 33 (Third Line)—spotted a critical issue. He noticed that the soil was beginning to slip near the third line between the Sabira and Markona stations, specifically in the stretch between kilometer 276/35A and 277/3A.
Recognizing the immediate risk this instability posed to train operations, he acted without delay. He promptly notified the concerned Senior Section Engineer (P-Way) via telephone to report the soil movement.
Swift Action and Official Recognition
Due to his timely report, the railway administration was able to carry out the necessary repairs and maintenance work promptly. This swift intervention ensured that rail operations remained safe and uninterrupted, successfully mitigating the risk of an accident.
To celebrate his exemplary alertness, Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) Lalit Mohan Pandey presented V. Ram Krishna with a cash award and a certificate of appreciation. The DRM commended the Keyman's commitment to his duties and his role in maintaining the high safety standards of the Indian Railways.
