Kishanganj Relief: 5 New Railway Overbridges Approved!
The Bihar government has officially greenlit a major infrastructure boost for the Kishanganj district. In a decisive move to tackle the persistent headache of traffic congestion at railway crossings, five new Railway Overbridges (ROBs) have been approved for construction.
Following this formal approval, the district administration has already hit the ground running by initiating the land acquisition process. This step is critical to ensuring that the upcoming infrastructure projects can commence without unnecessary delays.
Land Acquisition in Progress
The local administration is prioritizing the acquisition of land required for the project sites to facilitate a smooth construction phase. District Land Acquisition Officer Akshayat Tiwari confirmed that the formal acquisition process is set to begin shortly.
He noted that while the immediate focus remains on securing the necessary land, construction activities will proceed immediately once the sites are officially handed over. This project represents a coordinated effort between the Bihar government, the district administration, and railway authorities.
Strategic Locations for Maximum Benefit
To ensure the greatest impact on local commuters, the five proposed overbridges have been strategically distributed across key areas of the district:
- Kishanganj City: One facility is planned for the highly congested city area.
- Thakurganj Block: Two overbridges are designated for this region.
- Pothia Block: The final two overbridges are scheduled for construction here.
Ending Traffic Jams and Improving Safety
The primary objective of these new ROBs is to transform the commuting experience in Kishanganj. By providing seamless transit over the tracks, the government aims to achieve several key goals:
- Eliminate Vehicle Queues: Reducing the long, frustrating lines of vehicles currently stuck at railway crossings.
- Enhance Road Safety: Minimizing the frequency of traffic accidents that often occur at level crossings.
