Kota Junction Platform Block: Multiple Trains Diverted via Sogaria
Major changes are coming to the travel routes of Kota Junction as railway authorities prepare for a significant 20-day platform block. Starting from September 29, 2026, and continuing until October 18, 2026, Platform Number 3 will be closed to facilitate essential infrastructure upgrades. This move is part of a massive ₹207.63 crore redevelopment project aimed at modernizing the station's facilities.
Major Train Diversions via Sogaria
To ensure smooth operations during this period, several prominent train services will be rerouted. According to Saurabh Jain, the Senior Divisional Commercial Manager (Sr. DCM) of the Kota Railway Division, the following trains will bypass Kota Junction and be diverted through Sogaria:
- Dayodaya Express
- Bhopal-Jodhpur Express
- Jabalpur-Ajmer Express
- Ajmer-Jabalpur Express
Short-Terminations and Origin Changes
In addition to the diversions, some services will not reach their usual destinations due to the ongoing work. The following trains will be short-terminated at Sogaria station for the duration of the block:
- Etawah-Kota service
- Indore-Kota service
- Bina-Kota service
Furthermore, passengers traveling on the Kota-Bina service should note that the train will now originate from Sogaria instead of Kota Junction.
Infrastructure Progress in Udaipur-Himmatnagar Section
While the work at Kota continues, non-interlocking activities are also being carried out on the Udaipur City-Himmatnagar rail section. This work is intended to install a crossover for the new Shyamlaji-Modosa rail line, a 26.65 km broad-gauge project. This initiative is a vital part of the larger Ahmedabad-Himmatnagar-Udaipur gauge conversion project.
Once this link is fully operational, it is expected to significantly enhance rail connectivity between Rajasthan and Gujarat, providing easier transit toward Mumbai and boosting both commercial and pilgrimage travel to Shyaml
