Railway cyber security boost: Kota Division to install security shield on 1890 computers

Indian Railways is strengthening its digital infrastructure to prevent cyber attacks. In the first phase, a special cyber security shield is being installed on 1890 computers in the Kota Railway Division. This move is part of a larger plan to secure the entire rail network from hackers and unauthorized access.

What is the new security shield in Kota Division?

The railway is deploying Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR) agent software on 1890 RailNet computers. This system is managed by the Indian Railway Security Operations Center (IRSOC), which was set up by CRIS. The software will monitor systems 24×7 and instantly disable any unauthorized software or viruses. Any suspicious activity will be reported directly to the control room to ensure near-zero response time.

How is Indian Railways fighting cyber threats?

The Ministry of Railways has taken several strict steps to protect the online ticketing system and internal networks. To stop fraud and bot attacks, the railway has implemented multi-layer security including Aadhaar authentication and advanced anti-bot solutions. The government plans to bring 1.90 lakh devices under this security umbrella across the country.

Metric/Project Details
Suspicious IDs Disabled (2025) 30.3 Million
Bot Requests Blocked (July-Dec 2025) 60.43 Billion
IR-SOC Implementation Partner Bharti Airtel Limited
IR-SOC Completion Target 31 March 2026
Total Device Target 1.90 Lakh devices
